JORDI AMAGAT is a painter who does not identify himself with any tendency or school. Over more than 25 years, he has developed a personal world that unfolds before the spectator's eyes in the form of theaters of memory and mysterious gardens, where the animated lives with the inanimated, the figurative with the abstract, the geometric with the organic, and polychromy with large areas of ochre or gray color. The final result are enigmatic compositions occupied by a powerful interior architecture.
Figures fill up almost the entire surface of the painting, creating a sensation of plentitude that Amagat resolves by combining forms and colors, arranging diverse elements in layers like in a mysterious diorama. The superposition of objects and characters on horizontal and diagonal lines gives an effect of movement that traps the spectator's view. Meanwhile, the leaps of proportion (we can find a man, a tree, an animal, etc. on the same scale) transport us to a world of dreams that the artist sees at a distance in order to reduce it to plastic forms and thus make it everlasting.
